Gossip Girl Galore

Today I was supposed to meet up w/ the intern girls for lunch, but there was a miscommunication, and it didn't work out. I thought we were supposed to meet up at 12:30 PM, as indicated in the email, however for some reason they met up at noon. :-\ I saw Maryam on her way out, which is how I found out.

After work I took the train with Chris to Union Square and walked to STK (Little W 12th Street & 9th Ave) which was a bit of a walk. I bought some cute white shoes along the way. I got to Union Square around 5:40 so probably didn't get to the set until close to 6:15. The set was a bit weird, and there werent that many trucks. I guess it was because they were filming inside not out. There also weren't that many people around the set. While the set was guarded and I did not get to see the inside of the resturant, I did get to hear what they were filming. (I became friendly with the sound crew). So finally around 7ish the sound guy told me to stand on the other side of the set, and to "park myself in between the pigs."

So around 7:40, all my waiting paid off. Chuck came out first, he was super nice! Apparently he has an English accent - HOTT. Next was Blake, apparnetly she was sick :-\ She came out in her robe, and couldnt stay out for long, but offered to take a group shot w/ us! She was so nice, she was like don't get too close, I dont want to get you guys sick! Last was Penn, he was a total sweetheart. All the set people were telling him to go to his trailer, but he was like nah I'll do it, and took pix with all what 10 of us?

My camera spazzed, so this new girl I met Chamberlin, said she would email them to me tomorrow, I can't wait!

What an awesome day! :)

A day for B's

Tonight we went to Bobby Flay's Bar Americain for dinner. Chris and I left together and had gotten there earlier. We weren't the first to get there though, Sam, Maryam, and Angela had arrived there before us and had already started drinking. Then the rest of the interns slowly trickled in. 6:30 PM rolled around yet neither Antonette or Stacia had arrived... So we waited, then around 6:45 we decided to go up to the table. We got private table at the upstairs, and our own "AIG Intern Dinner" Menu, which was pretty cool.

I guess they had showed up around 7? My cell was acting up so I had no perception of time. For dinner I had shrimp for the appetizer, fillet mignon as the entre, and cheesecake for dessert. The shrimp was good, the steak was amazing, but the cheesecake was ehh.... I got a mojito (my first) with dinner, but it was way too strong and tasted bad, Elena tried it and agreed.

Dinner was interesting, Stacia (yes the Stacia Kelly, General Counsel, VP of AIG's Corporate Legal Dept) was at one head with Antoinette at her side and Chris Mallus (head of HR) at the other end. The dinner was cool because I got to know the other interns on a more social level, since we can only really small talk at Lunch & Learns. At the same time the dinner one of those weird, lets try to interact with the important people and hear their stories... Stacia was soo nice!!! :)

After Stacia and Chris left, we were left with an open tab, so we ordered one more round of drinks. You know me, I can't order drinks for my life, and just said some random phrase that equated to a drink - "sex on the beach." I may have had a little bit too much to drink, as I couldn't hold down my food any longer. AFter a while everyone had left, and it was just me, Angela, Chris and Jason. Shortly after Angela left, and I was going to leave, but Chris wanted to stay so that he could talk to Jason longer, what a surprise! haha. I promised Chris that I would show him how to take the train home, since his grandma lives in Whitestone (near 79) which isn't too far from me at all, so I had to wait for him. He had never been to Times Square, shocking I know, so I made him walk through it to get the 7 train. We left around 10:30 but didn't get home until around midnight!

While the restaurant was nice and the food was good, the atmosphere was nothing special and the food was not all that Elena made it seem. She hyped it up a bit too much...

TGIF

TGIF!!!

Today I was supposed to hang out with Katie, but she got sick. :-\ Elena and I hung out in the city instead. I got my nails done for the first time so that was cool!

LAST DAY OF LINEAR ALGEBRA!!!

Today was the last day of Linear Algebra!!! The final wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, however I did blank out in Coshey-Schwartz. Professor Bhatnagar like the card. Elena told me the best joke to include:

What do you call an eigen sheep?
A Lamb, DUH!

LOL, its so funny, but only a math dork would get it.

At work I went to lunch with Joycelyn. We went to Fino, which was a cute Italian resturant. I got fetuccini alfredo which wasn't too bad, a bit salty, but good.

I had told Tricia and Reese that it was my last day and they freaked out. But I finally realized that I am an asset to them. They totally flipped when they found otu my last day was 2 weeks away.

Ugly Betty

Today I ventured to find the set of Ugly Betty and Law & Order: SVU. The trains weren't running properly this morning, the 2/3 train (I forget which one) stopped so I decided to just take the train to the Fulton Street station and walk. I figured since Law & Order was filming somewhere along the direction of the way to work why not try to find out where Law and Order was being filmed. I walked down Rector Street, however there was no signs of filming what so ever, and I had walked all that extra distance in the heat for nothing :-\ Needless to say, I was not my usual happy self when I got to work (late...).

During lunch I decided why not try to find the set of Ugly Betty, which was filming around State Street. On my way to Battery Park/State Street, I bumped in to Eric Brodwell and his co-intern! What are the chances of that?!? After much walking and confusion, we finally found the set around 12:45 PM. They were filming outside of the courthouse/museum by the Bowling Green train station. Looked like they were filming a scene of a "sexy lawyers" photoshoot. Unfortunately America went to lunch around 1 PM. One of the guys that were working on the set said she would be back soon, like 20 mins, so I figured ok Ill stay. Tick-tock, tick-tock, she didn't come back until a little after 2PM. Then she was on her phone the whole time. So I snapped a few pix, and headed back to work. I got back around 2:30...

Then I was off to class, what a day!

Today Elena and I went to the city to chill. We met up and started off at Victoria's Secret in Herald Square. Victoria's Secret was like heaven to Elena, she has quite a love for bras - lol. After Victoria's Secret we did quite a bit more of shopping, we went to H&M, Forever 21, GAP, and stopped off to get Elena lunch, while i got a smoothie. I got a few shirts at Forever 21, but one of them is missing a button so I guest I have to return it :-\ Elena had never been in a store so big, and as in shock, but in a good way of course! I'm glad I was able to expose and experience her first time in a store that big with her!

Next we took the train and went to FAO Schwartz - FAO Schwartz got sooo much smaller, it was ridiculous! First, there were barely any animals in the first floor entrance area, the only thing in the back of the first floor was the candy bar and a lot of empty space. Second, the upstairs barely had anything, and the whole left wing (when you get off the elevator) was gone, there was just a wall! :-O At least we bouth found got some good candy, she got Reese Pieces, and I got sour gummy bears, YUM!!!

Afterwards we went to Elena's dorm, which was HUGE!!! We went to Strand where I got a few books:
The Maracot Deep By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
The 9/11 Report by Thomas Kean and Lee Hamilton
Arrowsmith by Sinclair Lewis

I saw a book titled "Arrowsmith" and had to get it for Reese. The back cover says the book is about a scientist that works really hard... sounds sort of like Reese, only he does stuff with computers. The book seems like something he might like.

After we went to Strand, I headed home and started reading a bit of Arrowsmith. I had so much fun w/ Elena!

Today was another Lunch & Learn at AIG, the topic was Compliance, Regulatory, and State Relations lunch. Suzanne Folsom, Joe Sherno, Heather (from regulatory), and last but certainly not least, Cecilia Norat presented. I wanted to meet Cecilia ever since I found out she was a Fordham/Fordham Law alum! I wanted to speak to her privately after the lunch & learn, but when I had left she was gone. But as I was talking to Elena in the pantry, guess who strolled by... CECILIA!!! I called her name and awkwardly introduced myself... Afterwards I emailed her to reintroduce myself, and she invited me to come visit her! :)

It was then time for class. Professor Bhatnagar came to talk to us for a little while, where I finally learned his age... he's only 26 and getting his PHD! Wow is that guy smart!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ADRIANNE!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ADRIANNE!!!

Today we went out for dinner to celebrate Adge's 20th birthday at Sushi Samba. Originally Adge and I were going to meet up around 6 PM at Columbus Circle. They were filming Gossip Girl at teh Hudson Hotel which is not too far from there, so I thought why not check it out. However I thought I'd be smart and check it out before we actually went, but no luck they had stopped filming (they had started last Wednesday).

Before I left I chilled with the Chris', and somehow ended up staying there until 6ish when I left to meet up w/ Adge. I was talking to them for a while and every time I tried to leave, Chris (Belz) made me feel bad and want to stay... so I did. Then they got a massive project (after 5PM, seriously who does that) so I helped them make photocopies so that Chris could get to his Portuguese class on time.

Turns out that Adge and I got out of the train station around the same time. My phone rang just as I got out of the turnstiles. We just walked around for a while to find place to go to get dessert, but there wasn't much luck down there. Eventually we decided to just go to Starbucks to get a quick drink to quench our thirst and wait for everyone else (Cathy, Christine, and Xavier). Everyone was on time surprisingly. We went into the restaurant, Christine and Cathy ordered Teriyaki chicken, same as last time, and the rest of us got sushi. The salmon roll wasn't on the menu, so I got the "salmon avocados roll" with no avocados - LOL and a shrimp tempura roll. You can't forget the Calamari appetizer! :)

Afterwards we somehow ended up bar hunting.... we took the train to 50th st on the 1 and went to Vintage. We had gotten in, however when Xavier tried to order they carded him, and left shortly after the waitress had. Next we took a cab and tried to go to Brittany's place, with no luck. There were bouncers so I tried to get Brittany's number. After calling Becky and having her go onto my fb, with no luck she called Chris Creegan. He then called me with the number, however I did not get in touch with Brittany, until I got a call back on our way home near Shea Stadium.

In the midst of this calling, I texted Jon Gordon to see if he new knew of any bars that didn't card, but typed in "boy bars" instead of "any bars" stupid t9 lol. And lets just say I haven't heard from him since the correction lol.

We then decided to head towards the train and get home. It was pretty sad considering we left the city a little after 10, by the end of the train ride decided to go to Cathy's place, where we took a bunch of random pictures. While waiting for the bus for a while this van that was passing by were making noises at us. To make it funny they drove around again and did the same thing, and as we got on teh bus we saw them drive by again! How sad/funny is that? lol. Finally we had made it to Cathy's around 11:30 ish where we just chilled and took a bunch of pictures. Afterwards Peter picked us up and drove me, Adge, and Christine home. I ended up getting home close to midnight yet again.

Jon's Big 2-5

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICHELLE!!!

Today we went out to celebrate Jon's 25th birthday at Lilli and Loo, a cute little sushi place near 59th and lex. I totally went to class and skipped out early. Class usually run from 5:45 to 7:20 ish since he runs over time. Before I left I got my test back.... which I had anticipated to bomb, but not as bad as I had... I got a 63, I'm Asian and good at math, I was shocked... :-\ I had to be at the restaurant at 6:30 so I intended to leave at 6:15 but ended leavign around 6:20. Luckily I got there just in time around 6:26ish.

The first people I saw when I got there were Josh, Bobby and Matt, I LOVE those boys. Then after few mins, I see CELIS!!! :) Turns out she was standing with them for a while, but had no idea who they were. So I introduced them. Soon Ely came, and he completely walked right past us not realizing we were there. Then Caitlin came, followed by Melanie and a few others. Finally Jon, the man of the hour showed up, and he wasn't that late at all!

I had reserved for a party of 17 (16 said they were coming) for the upstairs which was pretty awesome! It was like we had our own private room! We had the whole upstairs to ourselves at the beginning of the night, which was later to reduced to just one side but still about 3/4 of the room by the end of the night. Suprisingly by the end of dinner 16 people had actually shown up - 15 of the 16 that had RSVPed attending on fb, (and Ellie who had called me, Melanie and I had accidentally forgotten to add her) and we know how fb events roll, lol! It was soo nice seeing everyone. The bill had come out to $330, and of course we were short a lot of money, Celis, myself and a bunch of others ended up paying a lot more than we should have jsut so we could get out of there.

After dinner we ended up searching for a Pinkberry, Bobby and Josh's obsession. This was my first time there, along the way there we lost quite a few people. Arielle, Isaac and Ellie left together, leading to some interesting speculations. Josh had gotten us a bit lost, but we eventually found the place. It was now down to Jon, Seth, Matt Dunay, Matt Ross, Bobby, Josh, Ely and Francisco. Man we were there for a longgg time. Then Jon suggested walking from 56th and 2nd ish to Grand Central. I ended up getting home close to midnight.

Linear Test - Take 2

Today was our second Linear Algebra Exam. It wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be, but it was still kind of tough. Hopefully I BSed it well enough to pass. But we all agreed that this will be the test to drop.

On a lighter note, you'll never guess who I bumped into on the train... ERIC BROADWELL!!! At first we saw each other, and I thought this guy looks familiar, but I think everyone does. Turns out I knew him as he came up to me and hugged me. He's doing pretty well, he is interning at an NPO in the IT Dept, and apparently owns his own IT company! Way to go Eric!

HAPPY 25TH BIRTHDAY JON!!!

Today we went to lunch with Aunt Ellie, that old guy and Timmy of course! It was chinese at usual, but we didn't go to the usual place. We went to East Buffet on Kissena Blvd (near Jess's House) instead. So that was a nice change of scenery. Timmy, Jenna, Max and the whole crew was there. Max got so big! He's such a happy baby that boy!

Afterwards we went to go check out Aunt Ellie and Uncle Gary's new house that is still being built... It's been almost 2 years give or take. It seriously should not take this long. The house is really cute and big, but I wont lie, I like their old house a LOT better!

Well that's about it, now back to studying.

4th of July

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!!!

I can't believe that Joey Chestnut beat Takeru Kobayashi for the second year in a row! Chestnut has the speed, but Kobayashi clearly has the stamina necessary to win. I didn't realize that in order to win you just had to stick the hotdog in your mouth the fastest. That's the only reason that Chesnut was able to win. Had it been a complete digestion eating contest, I think that Kobayashi would've won. As a matter of fact, he had the 59th dog in his mouth first, but they both just didn't get to #60 in time.

Today was a 1/2 day at work!!!! I still had night class though, so I had a few hours to kill (like 5). Rose and I met up on Wall Street, and decided to go to lunch at the Seaport food court. We ended up going to subways, where I got a Philli cheesesteak w/ cookies, and Rose got a Chicken parm w/ chips. I LOVE Subways' cookies! :)

After lunch we headed to Penn Station, since Rose was going home afterwards for the holiday weekend. We were pathetic and couldnt find our way to Penn Station from the subway station underground, so we went via above ground. On the way walking to Penn Station from the subway station, we passed MIKE SCERBO!!! What are the chances of that?!? I was like hmm that kid looks like Mike, then he said hi, and that he was heading home - lol, I guess I was right!

Rose caught the 3:30 train, so I still had at least another hour 1/2 to kill. I was headed on my way to Macy's and saw the entrance to Manhattan mall on my way, and decided to go check out what was going on there. Charlotte Russe had a big sale, I got a pretty cute dress for only $5! :)

Then I was off to class again, and got there early... So I jsut called it a day and sat near the window and chiilled.

I am suprisingly not in trouble for staying out late last night!

Rosa Mexicana

Today I went out w/ Ashley, Becky, Jackie, and Amanda (Ashley's friend from home) Rosa Mexicana - which is right near Lincoln Center. We met around 8:00 PM at Fordham's Lincoln Center Campus, I made it there just on time, however the rest of the girls were late... The resturant was sooo cute!!! It had a wall of water, with divers coming out of it. We ordered Guacamole, and I ordered a grilled chicken taco thing. One of the guys actually made the Guaca mole right in front of us, which was really cool. This was my first real guacamole, and while I'm still not in love with it, it wasn't that bad I must admit. My food wasn't too bad, however, Jackie and Becky didn't care much for their meal, chicken anchalta (they ordered the same thing). Amanda and I ended up getting fried plantains, which were awesome! :)

Afterwards, around 10:15-10-30 ish, we went back to Lincoln Center. I met up w/ Chris, while Jackie and Becky met up w/ Katie Podkie. It was a bit awkward cuz we were walking w/ each other, but I still havent met her. I stayed to chill w/ Chris, since they were going to go out, and I couldnt/wasnt really in the mood. I ended up staying with Chris until a lot longer than I had anticipated... :-\ I left at 11:30 PM and didn't get home til around 12:30 AM.

The train ride home was a bit sketcy... not only was I the only girl on the train... I was clearly the youngest and surrounded by sketchy looking guys that I could feel were looking at me... And no I'm not paranoid

Finally I got home, and suprisingly didn't get in trouble!
