Miss Galaxy Pageant - Day 1

Today is Day 1 of the Miss Galaxy International Pageant!

I met all of the girls I will be competing with at orientation today, all of which seem very nice!  The first girls I met were Miss England Stefanie Williams and Miss Wales Lauren Parkinson.

After orientation I headed straight back to my room to get ready for the swimwear photoshoot.  I had purchased a purple swimsuit from Kandice Pelletier, which I am super excited to rock at Prelims and Finals!  (But wow, do competition swimsuits cost a lot!)

The swimwear photoshoot was a lot of fun we took a massive group shot and individual shoots as well.  The weather is so humid here in Orlando, my hair definitely did not hold a curl, so hopefully the pictures came out alright.  I guess we will find out in a few weeks.

Stay tuned for my next post

First Beach Day of the Summer!

First beach trip of the summer - better late than never!

Did you know Long Beach was home to the Quikilver Pro in 2011, where Mr Kelly Slater graced NY with his presence?

DC April 2015 - Day 2

Today Miguel and I visited the National Mall and saw quite a few monuments!  Here are some pictures:

The White House

The White House was much smaller than I remembered. I saw the cutest puppy named Jake, who was 1 year old and part of the FBI K-9 unit. I asked if I could pet him, but was told he was on the clock... Jake jelt coming over though, may or may not be because I had Miguel's chocolate muffin in my purse!

Washington Monument

WWII Memorial

Miguel and I had a mini photoshoot at the WWII memorial!

Lincoln Memorial

Roosevelt Memorial

Jefferson Memorial

I ended the night meeting up with an old friend from APDA and a live jazz band, what a great day!

DC April 2015 - Day 1

This week I am headed to DC for the Miss Supertalent of the World USA pageant and for a mini Nassau reunion with some of my friends who I interned with at the US Embassy in the Bahamas - Miguel & Yupa!

Today Miguel and I took Bolt Bus from NY to DC and got into Union Station, DC's version of Penn Station.  We were both amazed by all the cute guysthere were, and determined we definitely had the same taste in men, lol.  Within moments of being in DC, I saw someone I knew - on the Uber ride to Yupa's apartment, where we were staying for the week, I saw someone from my debate circuit!  How crazy is that?!  It went like this

I looked out the window and was like OMG I know that guy
**roll down the window & shout**
Me: Hey! Hey! (I couldnt remember the person's name)
Old couple at the bus stop looks at me
I point to the boy who is next to him
Boy: Hey!
Me: I know you right?
Boy: Yes
Me: You were on debate right?
Boy: Yes I was
Me: I'm Elizabeth, what's your name again?
Boy: Adam
Me: Nice to see you!
Adam: You too!
And we drive off - this all happened in a span of a few minutes as we were stopped at a red light in DC traffic outside Union Station on Thursday evening.

After that we went to dinner at this yummy Italian restaurant in Chinatown, where I had some amazing carbonara & gelato at Pitango!

Jamba Juice FiTrends Expo

Jamba Juice (www.JambaJuice.com) flew me out to Santa Monica, California for the Jamba Juice FiTrends Expo (April 24-25) featuring celebrity athlete Venus Williams!

I always love attending Jamba Juice events and learning about the latest trends and trying their new products.

There were even a few surprise celebrity guest appearances, including Tony Horton of P90x and Biggest Loser Season 11 trainer Brett Hoebel.

At the event we did a series of fitness exercises:

  • Pilates workout integrating today’s top songs and pop music while strengthening the core
  • Bokwa with Brian Mavi (www.bokwafitne.com)Innovative dance workout with the hearing impaired in mind, participants learned different choreography and would follow the exercise using letters and numbers to indicate the next move in the workout
  • An intensive body strengthing workout – this rigorous workout featured sets of burpees, pushups and squats
  • Ballet inspired dance moves to Broadway music, this workout does not require any ballet background
  • A workout combining pilates and kickboxing
  • Ballet bar-oriented workout strengthening the core
  • Upbeat dance workout with moves from the 90s

Venus closed out the event with a "Keynote Workout," led by Venus and her trainer Samantha Monus. The workout was a tennis oriented workout, without the usage of a tennis racket, strengthening and stretching the body while mimicking tennis movements seen on the court.
Thanks Jamba Juice for having me!
