Miss Supertalent of the World USA - Pageant Weekend

This weekend I competed for the title of Miss Supertalent of the World USA (STOW), which was formerly Miss Asia Pacific USA.

Little did I know going into this that ALL of the contestants had competed at a national pageant before!  But I tried not to let this get to me.

This pageant was different than most pageants I have competed in, in that there was no interview (just an onstage question) and only the top 12 would compete in the "self-expression" aka talent portion.

While I did not place, I won the "Fun Fashion Swimwear" portion of the pageant!  Never in my wildest dreams would I have expected to win best swimsuit, especially with such a amazing pool of women!

I had a wonderful time meeting and competing with all these wonderful ladies!  Thank you Kyle Haggerty for this great opportunity!

DC April 2015 - Day 2

Today Miguel and I visited the National Mall and saw quite a few monuments!  Here are some pictures:

The White House

The White House was much smaller than I remembered. I saw the cutest puppy named Jake, who was 1 year old and part of the FBI K-9 unit. I asked if I could pet him, but was told he was on the clock... Jake jelt coming over though, may or may not be because I had Miguel's chocolate muffin in my purse!

Washington Monument

WWII Memorial

Miguel and I had a mini photoshoot at the WWII memorial!

Lincoln Memorial

Roosevelt Memorial

Jefferson Memorial

I ended the night meeting up with an old friend from APDA and a live jazz band, what a great day!

DC April 2015 - Day 1

This week I am headed to DC for the Miss Supertalent of the World USA pageant and for a mini Nassau reunion with some of my friends who I interned with at the US Embassy in the Bahamas - Miguel & Yupa!

Today Miguel and I took Bolt Bus from NY to DC and got into Union Station, DC's version of Penn Station.  We were both amazed by all the cute guysthere were, and determined we definitely had the same taste in men, lol.  Within moments of being in DC, I saw someone I knew - on the Uber ride to Yupa's apartment, where we were staying for the week, I saw someone from my debate circuit!  How crazy is that?!  It went like this

I looked out the window and was like OMG I know that guy
**roll down the window & shout**
Me: Hey! Hey! (I couldnt remember the person's name)
Old couple at the bus stop looks at me
I point to the boy who is next to him
Boy: Hey!
Me: I know you right?
Boy: Yes
Me: You were on debate right?
Boy: Yes I was
Me: I'm Elizabeth, what's your name again?
Boy: Adam
Me: Nice to see you!
Adam: You too!
And we drive off - this all happened in a span of a few minutes as we were stopped at a red light in DC traffic outside Union Station on Thursday evening.

After that we went to dinner at this yummy Italian restaurant in Chinatown, where I had some amazing carbonara & gelato at Pitango!

SASF Step Competition

Clipboard & Scorecards, ready to judge!
Today I was a judge at the SASF Step Competition at New Explorers High School in the Bronx. I was super excited when Deb from Sports & Arts in Schools Foundation (SASF) had asked me to judge - I never stepped, but always thought it was very cool and was happy to volunteer to judge!

When I arrived at the school, I had met a few of the other judges, who were all very nice and had done step in the past.  I was responsible for judging the teams based on "attire." Thank goodness, because I am not the most knowledgeable on stepping.

There were two different competitions, the "beginner" competition and the "advanced" competition.  Let me just say, all of the acts were AMAZING!

By the end of the competition I was wanting to learn how to step and had one of the judges teach me!
